Learning from the Spirit

Introduction (Part 2)

To live life in Jesus by the Spirit is impossible on our own. We need a teacher! And so, God the Father sends an advocated, the Holy Spirit to be our teacher. Listen to what John 14:26 says: “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things…” Our teacher is the Holy Spirit.

But the verse does not end there, it goes on: “…and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”

Now, I am a teacher, and I know students. I can teach a student a new concept in class, and before the class is over, they have already forgotten the new concept. So, the next day I need to remind them of the new concept. And the next day. And the next day. And the next day. I give constant reminders until they know, understand and APPLY the new concept.

Our teacher, the Holy Spirit, constantly reminds of EVERYTHING that Jesus has said to us. He reminds us about what it means to live life in Jesus by the Spirit. We are to LEARN from the Spirit.

Vivir la vida en Jesús por el Espíritu es imposible por nosotros mismos. ¡Necesitamos un maestro! Y así, Dios Padre envía un abogado, el Espíritu Santo para ser nuestro maestro. Escuchen lo que dice Juan 14:26: “Pero el Abogado, el Espíritu Santo, a quien el Padre enviará en mi nombre, les enseñará todas las cosas…” Nuestro maestro es el Espíritu Santo.

Pero el versículo no termina ahí, continúa: “…y os recordaré todo lo que os he dicho”.

Ahora, soy un maestro, y conozco a los estudiantes. Puedo enseñarle a un estudiante un nuevo concepto en clase, y antes de que termine la clase, ya han olvidado el nuevo concepto. Entonces, al día siguiente necesito recordarles el nuevo concepto. Y al día siguiente. Y al día siguiente. Y al día siguiente. Les doy recordatorios constantes hasta que conocen, entienden y APLICAN el nuevo concepto.

Nuestro maestro, el Espíritu Santo, constantemente nos recuerda TODO lo que Jesús nos ha dicho. Él nos recuerda lo que significa vivir la vida en Jesús por el Espíritu. Debemos APRENDER del Espíritu.
