Spiritual Needs (Part 3)

Suppose a person reads his Bible every day. She learns something new. For example, she learns from Galatians 5:22-23 that the fruit of the Spirit is composed of nine different fruits. She memorizes those two verses. She now has new KNOWLEDGE.

That same person prays to God every day. She has read Galatians 5:22-23. Now she asks that God give her all the fruit of the Holy Spirit. She trusts that God will actually answer her petition. Why does she trust God? Because she has a RELATIONSHIP with God. She desires to be in His presence. She knows that the knowledge that God gives in His Word is true and dependable.

That same person obeys God every day. She has read Galatians 5:22-23. She prays to have the fruit. And now God says to her, “My Daughter, now go out and love – even the unlovable.” And she does. And then God says to her, “My Daughter, I realize that it is tough to have all your children at home and not at school but be patient with them. Help them with their studies. Love them!” And she encourages her children; she gives them a hug; she listens to them read; she helps them. And then God says to her, “My Daughter, your sister at church is sick. Go visit her.” And she goes out to visit her sick church sister. She even takes a tasty treat for the sister’s children. Why does she listen to God? Because God desires OBEDIENCE.

Knowledge by itself is only knowledge.

Knowledge about God without a right relationship with God is misguided knowledge.

Knowledge about God and a right relationship with God is proven with obedience to God.

Necesidades Espirituales (Parte 3)

Supongamos que una persona lee su Biblia todos los días. Aprende algo nuevo. Por ejemplo, aprende de Gálatas 5:22-23 que el fruto del Espíritu se compone de nueve frutos diferentes. Ella memoriza esos dos versículos. Ahora tiene un nuevo CONOCIMIENTO.

Esa misma persona ora a Dios todos los días. Ha leído Gálatas 5:22-23. Ahora pide que Dios le dé todo el fruto del Espíritu Santo. Ella confía en que Dios realmente responderá a su petición. ¿Por qué confía en Dios? Porque tiene una RELACIÓN con Dios. Ella desea estar en Su presencia. Ella sabe que el conocimiento que Dios da en Su Palabra es verdadero y confiable.

Esa misma persona obedece a Dios cada día. Ella ha leído Gálatas 5:22-23. Ella ora para tener el fruto. Y ahora Dios le dice: "Hija mía, ahora sal y ama - incluso a los que no son amables". Y ella lo hace. Y luego Dios le dice: "Hija mía, me doy cuenta de que es difícil tener a todos tus hijos en casa y no en la escuela, pero ten paciencia con ellos. Ayúdales en sus estudios. Ámalos". Y ella anima a sus hijos; les da un abrazo; les escucha leer; les ayuda. Y entonces Dios le dice: "Hija mía, tu hermana de la iglesia está enferma. Ve a visitarla". Y ella sale a visitar a su hermana enferma de la iglesia. Incluso lleva un sabroso regalo para los hijos de la hermana. ¿Por qué escucha a Dios? Porque Dios desea la OBEDIENCIA.

El conocimiento por sí mismo es sólo conocimiento.

El conocimiento sobre Dios sin una relación correcta con Dios es un conocimiento equivocado.

El conocimiento sobre Dios y una relación correcta con Dios se demuestra con la obediencia a Dios.
