Picturing the Fruit of the Spirit (Part 3)

Picture 1 and 2: According to Matthew 7:16-20, you will know the plant by its fruit. So, a cactus will produce a cactus, an orange tree will produce oranges. Now we would probably not consider eating cactus, so perhaps we might say a cactus is a bad fruit. But we would definitely consider eating an orange. Oranges are good fruit. By your fruit, you will be known. Are you a cactus or an orange?

What is really important is to live a pure and impeccable life! But…

Living a pure and impeccable life is impossible!

Picture 3: The golden plum tree demonstrates GRACE. Even though we are dying in our sin, Christ comes along, dies on a cross, defeats death and Satan, and puts his Holy Spirit in us. His Spirit causes us to become green again, to flourish and to produce those golden plums again. It’s the work of Christ in us.

Picture 4: There is a reality in our world, however. There are trees – avocado trees – that do not produce fruit. Matthew tells us that those avocado trees will be thrown in the fire and burned. That is TERRIBLE!

So, what is our response to that terrible news? Well, our response should be good news. We, who have been saved by GRACE, must go out there and make disciples – we must reach the dying tree with the words of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.

Imaginando el Fruto del Espíritu (Parte 3)

Imagines 1 y 2: Según Mateo 7: 16-20, conocerás la planta por su fruto. Entonces, un cactus producirá un cactus, un naranjo producirá naranjas. Ahora probablemente no consideraríamos comer cactus, así que quizás podríamos decir que un cactus es una fruta mala. Pero definitivamente consideraríamos comernos una naranja. Las naranjas son buenos frutos. Por tu fruto, serás conocido. ¿Eres un cactus o una naranja?

¡Lo realmente importante es vivir una vida pura e intachable! Pero…

¡Vivir una vida pura e intachable es imposible!

Imagen 3: El ciruelo dorado demuestra GRACIA. Aunque estemos muriendo en nuestro pecado, Cristo viene, muere en una cruz, derrota a la muerte y a Satanás, y pone su Espíritu Santo en nosotros. Su Espíritu hace que nos volvamos verdes nuevamente, florezcamos y produzcamos esas ciruelas doradas nuevamente. Es la obra de Cristo en nosotros.

Imagen 4: Sin embargo, existe una realidad en nuestro mundo. Hay árboles, árboles de aguacate, que no dan fruto. Mateo nos dice que esos árboles de aguacate serán arrojados al fuego y quemados. ¡Eso es terrible!

Entonces, ¿cuál es nuestra respuesta a esa terrible noticia? Bueno, nuestra respuesta debería ser una buena noticia. Nosotros, que hemos sido salvados por GRACIA, debemos salir y hacer discípulos; debemos alcanzar el árbol moribundo con las palabras del Evangelio de Jesucristo. El Evangelio es el poder de Dios para la salvación de todo aquel que cree.
