None But Jesus

In Christ Alone

There are two songs that I am sure that you have heard before. These two songs talk about a very important truth.

• The first song is “None But Jesus”. Here are the words of the chorus: “There is no one else for me. None but Jesus. Crucified to set me free. Now I live to bring Him praise.”

• And the second song is “In Christ Alone” . The first two stanzas start with the exact same words: “In Christ alone.” And then the stanzas finish as follows:

  • Here in the love of Christ I stand.

  • Here in the death of Christ I live.

  • Here in the power of Christ I stand.

And what truth is found in each of these songs? We are saved by Christ alone; our Savior is none but Jesus. We stand and live in Christ alone.

When we walk in the Spirit, we rest our hearts in Christ alone. Our love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humbleness and self-control are rooted in Christ alone. – none but Jesus.

But often we do not find ourselves rooted in Christ alone. And that is the topic for the next devotion; it’s called “Jesus Plus.”

Solo en Jesús

Hay dos canciones que estoy seguro de que habrás escuchado antes. Estas dos canciones hablan de una verdad muy importante.

• La primera canción es "Solo Cristo". Aquí están las palabras del coro: “No hay nadie como Tu. Solo Cristo. Moriste por mí en la cruz, viviré para alabar".

• Y la segunda canción es "Solo en Jesús". Las dos primeras estrofas comienzan exactamente con las mismas palabras: "Solo en Jesús". Y luego las estrofas terminan en ingles de la siguiente manera:

  • Aquí en el amor de Cristo estoy.

  • Aquí en la muerte de Cristo vivo.

  • Aquí, en el poder de Cristo, estoy.

¿Y qué verdad se encuentra en cada una de estas canciones? Somos salvos solo por Cristo; nuestro salvador no es más que Jesús. Estamos y vivimos solo en Cristo.

Cuando caminamos en el Espíritu, nuestro corazón descansa solo en Cristo. Nuestro amor, gozo, paz, paciencia, amabilidad, bondad, fidelidad, humildad y dominio propio están arraigados solo en Cristo. - solo Jesús.

Pero a menudo no nos encontramos arraigados solo en Cristo. Y ese es el tema de la próxima devocional; se llama "Jesús Plus".
