Jesus’s Work (Part 2)

Jesus’ work of humiliation is mentioned in the following lines from the Apostles’ Creed:

[He] was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

And born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

Was crucified, died, and was buried;

He descended into hell.

In each of these works, the Son of God caused his glory to be veiled and hidden from sight, and subjected himself to suffering and indignity. Because the Son’s divine nature is immutable, it could not be humiliated. So, his humiliation was limited to his human nature. Nevertheless, because his human nature is perfectly united to his person, his divine person fully experienced the humiliation.

La obra de Jesús (Parte 2)

La obra de humillación de Jesús se menciona en las siguientes líneas del Credo de los Apóstoles:

[Él] fue concebido por el Espíritu Santo,

y nació de la Virgen María.

Padeció bajo Poncio Pilato,

Fue crucificado, murió y fue sepultado;

Descendió a los infiernos.

En cada una de estas obras, el Hijo de Dios hizo que su gloria quedara velada y oculta a la vista, y se sometió al sufrimiento y a la indignidad. Como la naturaleza divina del Hijo es inmutable, no podía ser humillada. Por tanto, su humillación se limitó a su naturaleza humana. Sin embargo, como su naturaleza humana está perfectamente unida a su persona, su persona divina experimentó plenamente la humillación.
